Caring for the caregiver
Our families can be our most precious asset at times when we are ill. The link below will take you to an article
entitled Survive A Loved One’s Chronic Pain by David Kannerstein, PhD and Sarah M. Whitman, MD.
It was included in a How to Cope With Pain blog entry I read. This handout provides a lot of really helpful
information for family members who graciously care for us-

RESEARCHING A NEW DRUG FOR LUPUS.......Did you know its been 50 years since we have had a new drug for lupus???
Consult with your doctor, family or close friends before considering enrolling in a clinical
trial.
Visit the Lupus Foundation of America, Center for Clinical Trials Education (CCTE) at www.lupus.org/clinicaltrials/ to learn more about participating in clinical trials and to find resources. Using the
CCTE, you may also ask questions about clinical trials or share your experience.
Specifically......the MEDI 545 Phase
II Study (MI-CP179) will evaluate the safety and tolerability of an investigational new drug for people with moderately
to severely active lupus.
Study participants must be at least 18 years old and have a positive ANA test. In addition,
participants must not be pregnant or planning to become pregnant. For more information about this study, you can visit www.clinicaltrials.gov
and enter the study identification number: NCT00657189.

Helpful Disability Information
Today I ran across a site that seems to provide a wealth of information pertaining
to applying for disability as a result of lupus. The author provides information about her own personal experience of
waiting YEARS to be approved for disability.
The site includes a detailed listing of SSI's criteria for determination
of eligibility & much more!
Interesting site- check it out.....
